These wire samples probably produced by the American Wire & Steel Company were collected in Ponca City, OK during the 1930s by Leroy Lester Gauger in Ponca City, OK. He was given these samples by Barbed Wire Salesmen who called on the local hardware & farm store.
He moved to California in the mid 50s, and ended up in Gooding, ID where he passed away in 1989. The wire was hanging in a barn. His son dusted them off and placed them in a garage sale where they were purchased by a nearby resident who contacted me to learn of their value. These were given to me by the current owner. They are part of a collection of over 100 samples of different wires. These are 18" in length, but the remainder are 16" which indicates they were not replicas intended for sale to collectors.
Does anyone have any information about Mr Gauger?
