This was my 96 year old mother's doll that her grandfather gave her when she was a child. The original dress was maroon crepe paper but it deteriorated. Mom used the original as a pattern to make a new dress. We haven't been able to find any other dolls like it. We would appreciate any information.

I have a similar one that I bought at a fair. Actually I have two, one being a miniature. I think yours is made of celluloid, like mine, and was probably made in the 1930s.

Thank you. We thought it probably is from the early 30s since Mom got it when she was a little girl. It's is very good condition considering the age. Do you know what this particular one is called?

I think many of these celluloid dolls back then were given away at Carnival as prizes. Some were more like Kewpies and some were meant to look like flappers. My miniature one still has her original flapper dress. :) I think the dress of the taller one I have is also original, at least it looks really old, but it is quite long (like the dress of your doll), so not what a flapper would have worn.

Many of these carnival dolls were dressed in just crepe paper and feathers.
How nice you have your Mothers doll :-)
This is like your doll. Her hair and eyes appear to oxidized to a gold color.
