Pretty neat find today. This painting stood out to me so picked it out of a stack of paintings from my local thrift store. This 8x10” painting by Gerard Fortune, an internationally exhibited Haitian artist (1925-2019). This piece shows two women carrying jugs on their heads through a field of flowers, with coconut trees, among a hilly background. Seems to be an earlier piece. The canvas is a bit aged, and nailed to a wooden frame. The shading is much more detailed than his other works which have bright colors. It’s signed in the lower right corner.
