    I dont no what you call this tool found it in the basement I know the house use to burn coal. it was in my grandfather work shop its very dark in basement I hope these pictures are ok.

      I have mainly seen these called ice tongs and occasionally log tongs.Coal tongs are typically smaller with much less of an arch and the handles are like large scissor handles to be used one handed.Nice find!

      I believe they are ice tongs because of the sharply bent ends. They are a wonderful piece of history.

      They are Ice tongs. I have two different sets that my granddad used. One is the same as you have and the other has a bolt/nut that was used to grasp heavy ice. I use to go to the ice shack when I was a kid and watch him. Yeah, my age is coming out.
