Can anyone identify this goblet. I don't know the age or manufacturer and would appreciate help. I believe it was my grandmother's who was married in 1898 if that helps.

Your EAPG (Early American Pattern Glass) goblet has an Owl and a Possum (but really, what is a possum, but a big ole rat?!) -- and according to one rubylane dealer, this goblet is:
1)Rare
2)worth $200
3)made by Portland Glass Co. of Maine -- circa 1860’s

Unfortunately, there's no proof Portland Glass made this goblet. No catalogs exist for the company and except for a handful of patterns for which a patent illustration exists, or pieces are "signed", information is based on family histories and other reports. The 1860's date is too early, this goblet has no characteristics of the period either by design or material, since it's non-flint and this was still the flint-glass era. Ruth Webb Lee, an early author, dated it 1870s which is possible, but so is the 1880s. Another problem is a that it was reproduced but the maker and date are unknown. The repro has differences distinguishable from the original.
