My Grandmother gave me the clock in the pictures. It’s a 1941 Longines with a few identifying marks on it. It has serial/model number 3923599 imprinted on the back and Longines written inside. Also written inside is the year 1941, the same serial/model number 3923599, it says 17 jewels, and has RS and AF engraved on it. I was wondering what a clock like this could have been used for. My first thought is that it could have been mounted in a car or a similar application. I am writing a few vintage watch stores/ collectors to try and find out more information about this time piece. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank You,
    Peter Lake

      Got an answer from Longines

Following your request, I have the pleasure to give you here below the information I found in our old hand-written registers :

The serial number 3'923'599 identifies a pocket watch in steel.
It is fitted with a Longines manufacture caliber 19.41 that was first produced in 1914.
It was invoiced to Messrs.' Wirth, who were for many years our agent for Switzerland, on the 25.03.1925.

Hoping this information is convenient to you, I remain at your entire disposal for any additional information you may require.
