I have a mystery ; a sterling scarf pin ( I think)

This is a beautiful sterling pin with open work design. I think this pin is
for a scarf as the 2 end pieces open to reveal each a post. the clasp is an
old style trombone. There is no mark except for sterling.
I would like to know where it originated and is it really a scarf pin?
I have done research and came up with no info. thank you, Josette
