      I have a similar item. Mine is attached to my father's Great grandfather leather powder bag from the Civil War. With the CSA and 1860 marking I would venture a guess that it used to be attached to a similar bag used for loading powder into cartridges during the Civil War. Hope this might help.

      Carving is bogus modern made-- can't be certain on the rest of the powder horn (need better pictures), but I suspect it is all modern.

      Value is less than $20.

      The modern carver was a poor geography and history student.

      The East "E" and West "W" are reversed.

      The C.S.A. didn't exist until 1860.
