I saw this at an auction and had to have it ( there are some pieces missing around the edge but I have them all just have to repair it), as I love anything to do with jewelry....I was wondering if anyone knew its age ..or maker...value etc. xoxox

Beautiful marquetry box! Looks like it's antique, perhaps made in Italy or France. I had a very small box in comparison inlaid with birds and also decorated with ink and scrolling motifs. Looks like something brought home after a grand European tour, circa late 19th/Early 20th century, but I'm not certain about the age. The silvered glass mirror is definitely showing its age. Absolutely love the pale blue quilting inside and smaller boxes opening to the side. Guessing it could have been used for traveling, since you can sit in front of it if placed on a table and adorn yourself like you have a mini boudoir! Great find. Based on the ornate inlay and the fancy shape, a box like this could be worth several hundred dollars if it's not a repro. It's good you have the missing pieces to repair :)
