This basket is about 7" Tall and looks to have some water stain on the bottom. That being said, it looks to be rather old. It has nice designs incorporated into basket. I don't know anything about this basket. I was looking for help from the online community to find out more about the basket; age, region, tribe, purpose, material, value, etc. Your comments are appreciated.

      WOW
This is made by the Tsimshian tribe. The decorations on this are AMAZING!! Made of Red Cedar bark with Yellow Cedar bark used for the decorations on the outside. You have treasures there, my friend. And, I do not think that is a water stain on the bottom but I would have to see pics of the bottom. It looks to me like it is just a darker cedar woven for the bottom.

You know, I am still thinking Tsimshian on this one, but it could also be Haida Tribe. They use alot of the same things, Red and Yellow Cedar but they also use Black alot in their designs. I know this one does not have the black coloring used, but the bottom is darker (I think based on the pics it is not damage at all). Either way, this basket is very valuable. I have a Haida basket up on my page, you can look at it but mine is closer in the bottom weave to the Tlingit. All three used the same things...
