Capped it looks like a bullet, uncapped it is a pocket sized oil can. I am assuming that it was supplied with Remington guns since the instructions on the cap say, "Use only Remington oil, and only one drop at a time". There is an imprint on the lip of the oiler mechanism which says "Cushman & Denison NY patent date 4-89"
I also have one of these oilers and I cannot find anything on it . I have had it for about thirty years and it is the only one I have seen other that the one pictured.
Mine is in pretty goog condition and the Chrome finish is pretty much in tact. If you have any information please pass it on. I would really like to know more about it and no one else seems to have any information. Thank You !
I bought on of these today as an antique store in West Virginia. It was more of a house full of boxes of misc junk. I loved it. I picked up this oiler but it is missing the cap. I will haft to go back and look for it. I purchased it for $2.00 and it is in good shape.
Based on my research, these were put on the market in the late 1800's. Finish is supposed to be "nickle" not "Chrome". There are a few for sale on that "Auction" website for around $30.00. They were made for gun oiling, fishing reels, sewing machine oiling etc.
