In the mid to late 1950s we used what they called dowel marking plugs that ran from 5 cents to 99 cents. These were used in marking grocery items and the ink was used to keep the stamp pads supplied.A simular type was used to supply ink for the "garvey stamper".The most comman price in the 50s was 19 cents followed by 29 cents.
