4 views of the personal flask of Arthur P. Henry. A resident of Vermont. Born in 1906, died in 1996. The flask is 4" in diameter and made of either pewter or possible silver plated with the engraving " A (image of a swallow(bird)) but not a skate(image of an ice skate)". See image closeup. It has had a lot of use as it is very worn.

I have a flask with the same etching but am not a 100% on the meaning of 'skate' in this phrase. Does anyone have a clear understanding of the colloquialism this is referencing? Thanks!
