I love the tin people inside! I have an almost 'repro' of this, but it doesn't have the splendid people inside!

Nice toy! It's fun to see the box as well. I grew up in San Francisco and I am dating myself by revealing that I can remember seeing similar examples sold in the souvenir shops on Grant Avenue in Chinatown. My family had a favorite restaurant there and we would visit a couple of times a month. Sometimes I was allowed to shop for a small toy or treasure in one of the shops after dinner.

I also remember being a bit confused as to why most of the items for sale were from Japan and not China. I'm sure that has changed now.
