    This looks and feels like silver, very heavy..I tried taking details but it may still not be clear enough to recognize. it is ~10-12" long
    The second pic stamp/marking looks familiar (I had seen it while researching something else while back) but not sure who could be the maker, the age, and possible value...

      When I can't find a mark I sometimes sniff the item, silver smells sweet, plated smells like sulfur. I occasionally taste to test silver too (if nobody is looking). Silly I know but works for me.

      I did use your method MattyG ( except my husband watch me sniff lol), but still in dark...not good nose for silver I guess :)
