Vintage Chess set?

I recently purchased this chess set at a consignment shop. The set is wood and the board is a hinged case for the chess pieces. The chess set is relatively large (king measures about 6.5 inches). I know nothing about the set, nor do there appear to be any markings on the case or chess pieces. I would love any information anyone could provide about origin, possible age, etc.
