Inner sole has silver-stamped "MADE BY Walter Sargent Northamptonshire, England"

Looking up Walter Sargent, it seems he was making shoes in the early 20th century, and these seem to be in exceptionally good condition for shoes of that age. They're obviously vintage, but I was thinking 60s when I bought them. I can't find any additional information through Google.

I have had the heels and soles reinforced (and thickened substantially) since purchase.

If anyone has any knowledge of Walter Sargent manufacturing dates, or brand transfers, or knows anything else about these - my favourite pair of shoes - I would love to know.

I don't claim to be a shoe expert, especially shoes of the British Isles, but these sturdy walking shoes could date anywhere from the 30s to the 60s- I've seen photos of this type of shoe over multiple decades. They weren't a fashion statement, so the classic style would have been popular for many years. It's like loafers or deck shoes- unless you're a real expert it would be hard to pin it down. The color and the awesome shoelaces would be an identifier. They do look comfy!
