HELLO, I have not seen nail like things on a teapot, I am a slow learner but I need to know! Probably to hang cups? The bottom is scortched a little but I do not think there is a hallmark. I will probably re-donate after I know for sure the answer! Thanks for looking! Don

My guess is that there was some kind if cradle that it set on to keep it at the right height above the stove/burner. Cups would slip off those too easily. Actually, I think I've seen 1 and the cradle is made for tipping over for pouring rather than lifting & pouring. But what do I know? A moment of conversing with the half-dead brain cells & am sure that's how it worked. That's right, - I had one once! Must be time to go to bed.

Memory coming back and don't remember a burner but surely would be used like that at times. Other purpose is that people with DT's can safely pour a cup.
