Charles S. Sweet was the secretary to George Pullman, who was a develop of the sleeper or "palace car" manufactured by The Pullman Company. It was his sleeper which Abraham Lincoln's body was taken back to Illinois. In 1894 The Pullman Co. workers went on strike after working longer hours for less pay. During this time George Pullman used daily letters from Charles S. Sweet to keep informed of the day-to-day developments of the strike. Eventually Grover Cleveland and federal troops intervened on behalf of Pullman to end the strike of 1894.

I've seen many lanterns but have yet to come across this exact style and finish. The only feedback I received was that the finish had been lost, but I am quite certain this was the original finish and it's remained in great condition.

Any information that may help me understand more about this lantern would be greatly appreciated!
