It is excellent condition with no chips or cracks. Just dirty on the bottom. It is 3 inches round on the bottom, 4 & 3/4 inch round at the top, approximately 3 & 3/4 inches high and approximately 8 inches wide.
Yes I believe these are original, as in made by Navajo. However, they are very common and I believe they are mass produced. I see these all the time, but they are nice looking! I am not sure if they are 100% hand made. Hope this helps!
Does anyone recognize the name on the bottom. The first I can make out as Terry but the last is very hard.
This is I believe from Mesa Verde Pottery in Colorado. Contact # 800-441-9908. I have one of their pots with paperwork. Ute and Navaho artists. Handpainted and signed by artist. Can't read last name, if number is still good it's a start.
This is made by the Cedar Mesa Pottery Company, in Blanding, Utah. It's their design line called "Desert Rainbow."
They are a manufacturer/wholesaler dealing in souvenir pottery for the tourist trade. They do hire Native American workers, primarily Navajo and Ute, to decorate and sign the pieces, but the pottery is all factory-made from molds. They produce about two dozen different items for each of their 30+ product lines, and all are decorated to company specifications. So the "signature" doesn't really matter much, he or she is just a company employee, not an individual Navajo potter.
Mesa Verde Pottery is a similar company located in Cortez, Colorado.
