Hi, I have recently inherited a particular item which I would like a little help with.
It is a Norton & White preserve pot. The lid is clearly marked with the 'N&W' within an oval, and the Birmingham 1898 marks of lion, anchor and lower case 'y'.
My question is in regards to the stand. It too has the N&W in an oval but no other marks but the numbers '16' and '6509'. Can anyone shed some light on to the meaning of these numbers? Would this mean the stand is not silver?
Also, this has bugged me about it for ages, the spoon that was always with it is clearly not the original one, 'Queen Anna' silver plate on the reverse! Has anyone seen one of these before with the stand? As you can see on the photos the stand has two hooks for what I would guess would be for the spoon. Has anyone any idea as to what the original spoon would possibly look like as I'd love to be able to bring the complete set together.

Hi masonmason, i would have thought that the frame is plated , the numbers a desingn number & poss a size too..
the original spoon would have been the same but has been upgraded to silver, i think this would be an apple sauce pot or preserve pot .
