    Can be unscrewed, looks like ivory, small compartment inside. Small hole at top for hanging on thread? Compartment inside is very small. Found in Sweden probably about 100 years old

      Hi there wendyi. Welcome to CW. I have to warn you, it's Saturday morning and sometimes it gets a little crazy around here...not that Saturday makes a difference!

      I personally have never seen one of these but stick around, someone may surprise us!

      Yes it could be a needle case, but also could be a pillow lace bobbin. I have some similar. Popular in Europe for making this type of lace. The thread goes through the hole.

      I think it was a pin case but with a twist.

      The hole was for a Stanhope.
