I inherited this maple I think Temple Stewart Hutch from my Grandma when she passed away. The top, (under the red runner) has scratches so I am wondering if I should sand and re-stain the top or if I should leave it as is?

I think that you should have someone restore it the way it was. Sanding and stainibg takes away from the beauty of the piece because to will never look the same. I tried it with a small table for my uncle and it was awful. The stains were mismatched and it detracted from the piece. My uncle and I gave it to a cousin. Please consider this option it is a beautiful cabinet.

Thank you. Other than the top, it is in very good condition. I will probably just keep it covered up, since I will never let it go.
