I picked this up for 1.99. I just thought it was some kind of plant stand that really needed sanding and some work. Then I got it home, and realized it’s a lamp, and it actually works! They had a wad of fake leaves/greenery in the hole there. Any suggestions on what could be done with it? I have started sanding the top.

This has oodles of potential. We can't see inside and don't know the voltage of the lamp in terms of generating heat. I would probably do one of two things. Mount a picture on the inside that would have back light or find a stained glass piece that would fit and be back lit. I would use it as a kind of night light in a room when watching TV and wanted low light. A plant or statue on top etc.

That paint will come off easier with a heat gun or even a 1500 watt hair blow drier. Some of the molding is going to be a royal pain otherwise. If you scorch it the marks will rub out with 3 or 4 ought steel wool.

      Cool find !!
Think I'd be ruthless & put a shelf inside the hole (at the bottom ) & put a glass vase inside lit up & I'd make a hole in the top & put on a piece of glass so the light shines upwards to light another glass vase .. ( even a black light and uranium glass so it glows at night !!! ;-)
Have fun & enjoy your project ;-)

Thanks for the ideas! I put in a small appliance bulb. It has to be somewhat small as a full sized bulb doesn't fit, the space isn't wide enuff.
