When I was stationed in Germany from 1961 to 1964, I had purchased a 1949 VW Bug. The license plate on the car was a U.S. Forces in Germany 1961. In 1962 They had changed there license plates to multi year. The red ran from 1962 to 1965, then a light green plate was issued for the years 1966-1973, next came a dark green for the years 1974-1982
and last was White were issued from 1983-1990. The last plate is now being use in Germany for the US Forces.
