Picked up this beautiful Tiffin glass vase from Salvation this morning along with some jewelry. It's 5.75 " tall and has a very subtle blue-violet color called "Twilight"(Neodymium glass). Done in their Swedish or Tiffin Optic which show as very faint bands in the body of the glass. There are four applied feet to the bottom. Each one is polished flat on the bottom so the vase sits level. It's called a "Line Sweet Pea Vase" and is listed as #17430 in their catalog circa 1950's. -Mike-
Is this neodymium Mike? It's got the right tone in the photos. Very pretty shape.
Thanks so much Ken :)...you know Karen you might be right. It isn't signed or labeled but there were enough examples online. It's has a beautiful ring to it too.

The first commercial use of purified neodymium was in glass coloration, starting with experiments by Leo Moser in November 1927. The resulting "Alexandrite" glass remains a signature color of the Moser glassworks to this day. Neodymium glass was widely emulated in the early 1930s by American glasshouses, most notably Heisey, Fostoria ("wisteria"), Cambridge ("heatherbloom"), and Steuben ("wisteria"), and elsewhere (e.g. Lalique, in France, or Murano). Tiffin's "twilight" remained in production from about 1950 to 1980.[18] Current sources include glassmakers in the Czech Republic, the United States, and China.
A bit more about the process....
Neodymium glass (Nd:glass) is produced by the inclusion of neodymium oxide (Nd2O3) in the glass melt. Usually in daylight or incandescent light neodymium glass appears lavender, but it appears pale blue under fluorescent lighting. Neodymium may be used to color glass in delicate shades ranging from pure violet through wine-red and warm gray.
So that's why it looked blue in the store and more violet when I got it home !

I love Moser glass. I think I have a pair of vases but they're not marked. I posted them ages ago. Not sure they'd be considered Alexandrite. They're packed away for now. :)

Thanks Aim... the color shifting from florescent (pale blue) to incandescent (violet) is pretty cool with this type of glass. :)
