When I saw these vases on ebay, I just had to grab them. This shape is rare and the hand painted pattern too. Quite an impressive size - 13''. It seems to me not many people are collecting now Fieldings' pottery, unlike 20 -30 years ago. In the 80s and 90s the prices were much higher for a Crown Devon pieces than nowadays. I'm not complaining, this is good for me as a collector. I was able to acquire some nice examples of their ware without breaking my (small) budget.
These vases are from the late 19th or early 20th century as other vellum 'royals' from SF & Co. They bear the lion on crown back stamp. The royals illustrate the technical ability of Fielding pottery and the increasing quality of their products during what many believe to be the heyday of the company.

Beautiful Martika and a pair no less. You are right about it being a buyers market at present. The same has happened to Nippon and American art pottery which are still my favorites and easy on the wallet too.

Also in the 80's and 90's there was no internet, only dealers, much spread out.

I love that these are so obviously hand painted and beautifully done too.

Thank you mikelv85, philmorris and racer4four for your input. You are right about the overall depressed antique market and the internet influence. There is another reason as well, babyboomers and the younger generations are not so interested in antique pottery, compared to the generation born between the two world wars.
