I thought some of you would enjoy this. Now we pay to use the Internet at a hotel at times and in 1946 we paid 25 cents to use a radio for an hour! Crazy stuff. Still works after the tubes warm up. The coin mechanism is kinda cool.

Thank you for looking and have a blessed day my friends! : )

i have one much like this only not as nice. mine is blue metal instead of brown and says 1946 on it...is yours older? or newer? mine also (sadly) has had the (very cool) coin mechanism removed. my dad owned an "old school" motel back in the 50s and 60s. my brother tells me that the radio's rate (25 cents for one hour!!) put it squarely into the upscale range since room rates at that time were around $4 a nite. it seems the company that made this radio also made an early pay-per-view TV...also for hotels/motels. so glad to see your picture....i'm going to clean my radio up and see if it can look half as nice as yours. thanks!
