An "Aerideact" is an Irish outdoor festival, like a county fair.
    6. vetraio50 vetraio50, 8 years ago
Aerideacht is 'gathering' in Gaelic. It is written in uncial script and the words are forms used before the 1948 spelling reform. At that time Gaelic was spelled Gaedhilge.

That makes things a little more days fficult for me. But I am on the casel.

Like an 'eisteddfod' in Welsh, Olof ???
    10. vetraio50 vetraio50, 8 years ago
It might be the Council for Gaelic Musicians.

Sounds like it, with more emphasis on the main sporting event in the "Aerideact" as opposed to more fine arts in the "Eisteddfod". Sure like their fetivals, the Gaelic! I attended an eisteddfod in Llangollen once. Choir competition, a fantastic week. In some aspects it also reminded me a bit of the county fairs I've been to in the mid west.

Gaelic musicians? That would make sense. Tough with the old Irish, apart from being Gaelic at all :)

      I think I was wrong there ...
It was not musicians at all.

The modern spelling of the group is: Comhairle Na Gcumann Gaeilge.

      The Council Of Gaelic Societies.
