Found this years ago in a field. Its jokingly called the rabbit rock. It is likely just a weird rock. But, it has the appearance of petrified wood in spots, while it also looks like a fossil in some respects. It has holes that run into it and entirely through it also. It is about 12"-14" in length. Anyone have any idea what it is?

Flint can be found in nodules that look like this.

Well, its from southwest Ga along the Flint river. Flint is literally everywhere you look. There were huge lower creek settlements all over that area.

It's not a river, so it must be a flint ! LOL !

So it's a nodule..? This makes sense, as it does appear to have the make up of more than one type of material. Also a lot of limestone there too.

Possibly a core from which ancient people struck flakes to make tools? Interesting piece!

When you say "creek settlements", you are referring to the Creek Indians, part of the Cherokee Tribe ? Just thought it might be helpful to those who aren't familiar with Amer. Indian tribes & locations. Many people on CW are not from Etats Unis.

Yes but No. Lower Creek were part of the Muskogee Creek Indian tribe.
