so is it art deco or not, or just vintage, was it a dress ring or engagment ring ?

I would say its from around the early 50's. And it was most likely a cocktail ring.
oh thanks, are the square cut stones rubys is there a way to test them, i know there are diamond testers for sale , are ther the same for other stones? sorry new to this sorry if its a dumb question thanks :-)

no problem , i love americans..... i married one, my husband is american , my english grandmother had some nice jewellery so i have always loved nice things, its just so nice to get more information about rings to be able to say to my daughters what it is and when it dates from thanks again
I agree with Kevin, if the diamonds tested real, the rubies are more than likely real also.
