This is a vintage US Stove Company Kerosene Heater, Model US89P, its all there just needs a new wick, and this unit could still be used today, everything works fine!
Still trying to find out when these were exactly produced, if anyone knows, I would sure appreciate the info!
Not really seeing a category this should go in.

We also have one of these heaters. I purchased over 30 years ago. My husband is interested in learning it's present day value. It has all it's parts, however, the cylinder section is quite rusted. Should I clean the rust off or leave it alone?
Thank you for any information that could be shared.

Don't know exactly when the stove was manufactured, but US Stove Company is still in business in South Pittsburg in Tennessee. Their product line includes Ashley furnaces and heaters, well-known in the Tennessee area for their great build and warm uniform heat, utilizing wood and coal. I bought one of these little US Stove kero heaters and the bottom fuel holder (also called a font) but the font was unusable as it was rusted tight. The man who sold to me stated that people buy these sometimes for use as flower holders, but I wanted to use as emergency heat. So after much research I found that it could be dislodged with a strap-type automobile oil filter remover, just be careful and don't bend it (I bent mine before I found out about the oil filter remover trick!). Perfection is a twin to this one and in greater quantity on eBay. So I bought a Perfection font in excellent shape (no rust!) and put in my US Stove shell and it fit great. When I was looking on eBay it was important to me to have a font and heater with no rust, and I paid an extra $20 for the better one. Rust eventually eats through metal and in my opinion these heaters are more desirable without rust and not collectible except in a usable condition. If I were looking at starting a business I would manufacture replacement parts for these cute little efficient easy to use heaters. If I were you, I would clean the rust, install a wick, get a 5 gal can of kero, and make it usable, who knows, it may come in handy if the electricity goes out!

northwestr: would recommend trying your heater outside before using in the house-some regulation is required-if the wick is turned up too high could create a mess-we use to use this type of one room heater to keep our ice fishing shantys warm. They do a good job-I never tried one in the house .
