Unknow what you would call this heavy little metal engraved I believe a Holder??? Estate find from the home of a Retired Air Force Pilot Col. Spent most of his time flying around the world. Measures 4-inches by around 3in. Any Guidance to where I can find out what this is will be greatly Appreciated.

I don't know the size -but the lip shows it use to have another part-and that is missing

Would a ladies’ belt or sash go thru the bracket on the back? If it had a cover at one time, it may have been a type of purse worn at the waist (like a very very early version of a fanny-pak).

Yes it looks as though it might have had a top and the slot on the back could have been a belt loop. Thank You all for your questions. Still researching

It looks so old, try looking online at chantelanes (I hope I spelled that right).
This could be a later version of a chantelane where all the lady’s “necessary” items were carried in the pouch rather than suspended/dangling in chains.
