What an interesting family, painted so colorfully - the facial expressions are priceless, revealing the winners & losers at the wheel
Newfld,
The shop owner was so kind to give this painting to me free of charge, since I purchased most of the items that he had from this interesting family! I think that I recognize some of the family members in the painting! I love the time period!
That's such a great painting, so characterful. I can imagine it fits well in your fab collection.
How did you find out about Alma when there was just a name to go on?
racer,
My antique dealer went to the estate sale for this families collection and a member of the family gave him loads of verbal and written history. That is the only reason that I know as much as I do. Thanks for the great comment!
Vintagelamp, Alma was my mother, and I'm the one who insisted on giving him the info, as I knew things sell better when their background is included. That's an early painting of her and you can see that she had a gift for caricature as well! I stll have some of her later mimniatures.
