      American Legion Post 112 is in Ontario, California. You might ask them. I suspect they can help you with information.

      There should be a post 112 in almost every state. Some have been consolidated in with other post and some just plain closed up because of a lack of members.

      Probably fairly early in the organizations existence-- I'd think pre- WW2.

      Probably for use in their post bar and restaurant. Wonder how many beers you could get for the token!

      From what I have read the legion put the post number on one side and the value on the other side. Therefore this would be Post 112. I agree with scottvez that it is an early coin. You can find oodles of them for sale on eBay.
