Any idea what wood type this is?
    What time period?
    Value?
The carved eagle is located on both sides of the dresser and there seems to be contrasting wood "inserts" across the bottom of the dresser in the front and and both sides of the handcarvings above the rails.
The only writing/signature on it is spells the name SAMUEL ALSPAUGH , which when I looked up online I could find nothing about that person, so possibly was an owner at one time and not the carpenter/manufacturer. ??? not quite sure.
Any identifing and descriptive information that can be of value. Thank you.

Check this link. It says their head designers grandfather was Sam. Maybe contact him and ask if he knows anything?

      AMAZING American Empire dresser!

Looks to be cherry. Dates from about 1840s- 50s. These are undervalued now and not appreciated, but this piece would still attract attention. I have no room for more dressers and if I saw it, I’d be a buyer and make room!

The Eagles are exceptionally well done and show a beautiful patina where they were cut. Certainly the marker for this expert craftsman. I do not know the maker, but I would suspect he is known.

      scott
