This Kutani hand painted yunomi (teacup) is about 3" high x 2.5" widest diameter and hand signed on the bottom. It is decorated on only one side, but has some flecking of color in the glaze on all sides, so avoids being too boring.
I believe this to be the work of the Kutani Ryusen kiln and also signed by the artist, based on the signature. Nice enough that it probably once had a box which has gone missing. Most Kutani pottery that I see is porcelain, not stoneware. This cup is quite pleasing to handle.
In the small inset images of image #2, note the gold "smudge" near the top of the cup. I have seen the same isolated gold smudge on other Kutani yunomi, so this is not an accident. I do not know the significance of this, but guess there is some. Perhaps represents the Sun?
There is also a bit of gold foil accent applied to the red flower which my camera did not capture.

Thanks for your comments, Jenni! The artist did a nice job. Often, several artists are involved in producing an item like this, depending on whether it is mass produced or a studio piece. I do not know which one this is.
