Sturdy bowl, very solidly made, image and makers mark both are etched into bowl and painted. Curious about origins, found one on ebay, didnt tell me much! Picked it up for 4 dollars at goodwill this week, so wasn't a huge investment! Measurements are 8"across, 3 1/2" base, and 3" tall.

Adorable Asian children scene, it reminds me of an old Japanese film we saw as children called Skinny and Fatty, about two little boys who were close friends

i got no idea personnaly i think it is an Ramen ( noodles) bowl made in the HIRA TAYOUDON shaping
it is a karako (children) - butterfly -pinetree scene, two karako is not the way it ought to be ( you need an uneven amount of children)let,s say 3-5
they faked a Igezara rim , as inner design which is rather ludicrous

Igezara pieces with "piecrust", "scalloped" or "notched" rim. Ige is a Saga prefecture dialect for thorn. Zara = dish. When these came out of the kiln, the pinched areas were 'sharp as thorns' before being smoothed down. Thus Igezara = Thorn plates.
application is unknown not serious transfer ware , and not inbande ( from copperplating) sort of shallow Tsumamu ( press and detach ) apppication
mark is new - so the bowl is very new

I thought it was likely new, but I am surprised that I didn't see the number of children being wrong, as I actually knew that fact, for once, although little good it did me at the time! Always learning. It has been in circulation in my kitchen as a popcorn bowl, so nothing lost, and will be allocated to my annual yard sale this spring!
