This Gemeinhardt 22SP flute, with gold plated-lip mouthpiece, and a Gemeinhardt hard case. Made in USA (Elkhart IN). was a Flea Market find on March 16th, 2024. After checking it over when I got home, I noticed that etched into the flute was "Generations in Jazz", so I tried to search and contact the Company, and found out that it was local, benefit, for keeping Jazz alive, for School age Children, by giving the Instruments to them, to use, and learn on, thus keeping Jazz alive for Generations! I couldn't contact them, by just calling or sending an E-mail, to ask if they ever sold them! So, I brought it to a local Music Store, "Rockin' Robbie's" and they knew about them, and offered to find out about the Flute from them, and "Generations in Jazz" told them that They never sell them, only let the students, use them, but offered to pay what I paid for the Flute, and that they could pick it up, from the Music Store, I told them that I would donate it instead, but They said that the money is there for me, for finding it! I gave it to the Music Store, for the work that they did for me contacting "Generations in Jazz" Win, Win! :^D

Wonderful story with a good end.
We must all do everything we can to keep "Generations in Jazz" alive. Music connects us all and knows no boundaries. Without music this globe would be a lot less fun to live on.

dav2no1, Thank You, I also, with my research on the things that I find, if it turns out, that it may be a lost Family heirloom, and I can reconnect, with the rightful owners, but some, are very Happy, and some could careless, and that's hard for me, to understand, being someone that is interested in my Family's Heritage! Thank You keramikos, that's Great of You to find, and add that link! :^D I noticed that there wasn't a Flute, in either of the Jazz Bands, now we know why, maybe they will have one next year! In the High School Band I saw that a Bass player, came from Concord High School, where I Graduated from, in 1973, it's right next to Dave Brubeck Park, that was Concord Blvd. Park, back then, and the Home of the Concord Jazz Festival, here's a link, about Dave Brubeck Park and the History of it:

FWIW, I thought I was gonna be schmart, and look up the serial number (it looks like "L85839"), but Gemeinhardt's website has only "N" prefix serial numbers for their 22SP flutes:

No, there is no effect acoustically; it can help deter reaction to nickel silver or silver. Some just prefer it cosmetically.

Actually, this makes me remember reading that a lot of people nowaways have an allergy to nickel, so a gold-plated mouthpiece makes a lot of sense.
