Yesterday afternoon, while I was on this site, my nine year old grandson came running in yelling "pawpaw, I found something in the field." He was quite excited. He said he saw a piece of rusty metal sticking out of the ground and pulled it up, and this is what he found.
It is quite thick for a knife blade, is 9-1/2" long, and looks home made.
Appears to be quite old.
HE IS A CHIP OFF THE OLD BLOCK, and getting off on the right foot!

scottscuff, I think you are correct, it has that skinning knife shape to it.
Thank you very much pickingupbones, pickingupbones & scottscuff.
It looks home made to me, and looks to be quite old.
It is difficult to see in the photograph, but the front half of the top part of the blade is sharpened just like the bottom of the blade.
Apparently you could go either up or down with it, for what purpose?
Thank you very much pickingupbones, scottscuff, TheGateKeeper & PhilDavidAlexanderMorris, yes, he is great help!!
