Looks like alabaster. He isn't mad he is happy in the pictures you are showing of his face. A happy Buddha is good luck, especially as a wedding gift. The palm of his right hand is cupped and aimed upward and his right foot is aimed upward (sole of the foot). Left hand is palm down. It all has a meaning but we have sold most of our Buddha collection and I forget the meanings of his posture and facial expressions. This one looks like alabaster which is quite heavy. They were mass produced during the 1970's. No markings except the machine marks on the bottom. They were sold in Army PX's for GI's to send home.
Hi, he is Hotei, sometimes called 'the Laughing Buddha', but he is one of the Japanese Seven Lucky Gods, and the most often of the seven depicted in Japanese art. (I think you meant 'made', not 'mad', right?).
