Inherited this from a family member who came to the States from Switzerland in 1908 . there is a number engraved on the side of the top PAT. + 53677. If anyone can give me anymore info I would appreciate it. It is in good shape other than the fabric lining from the inside is gone and there are no keys for the locks but the top does open. Also would be interested in the value if anyone knows ( just out of curiosity)

from what I found a few years back it was late 1800's possibly 1850-1860 when they were made. this one has wood trim around the top and metal trim on all four corners. the handles on the sides are both intact.
