New to re-doing furniture, I answered a Craigslist ad without a photo for a coffee table that "looks like a surfboard." It was priced at " $5 OBO!! I made the trip out to the owner, purchased it for $5, and then checked it out. It was covered in a horrible red stain shellac, but this was relatively easy to remove and underneath was this lovely, warm rosewood. The legs had an interesting shape and and curved support design. I made a hefty profit, but I wish I still had the table--if only for inspiration. I also wish I know who made it and how. It was so much fun to bring it back to life.

WOW! That's quite an amazing looking table. You did a fantastic job! I'm sure it was tough to let it go, but I'm sure someone is enjoying it immensely.
Thank you for your positive comments. This was an Ah-Ha moment for me; I found that I really could be successful at renewing furniture and have fun doing it. I still find it difficult to nail down the value of an item, but I'm learning.
Terrific! I love before and after shots. I hope you post some more.
Wonderful mid-century table! You should be applauded for bringing this jewel back to life.
To see that rich warm wood emerge was a reward in itself. Thanks!
