Just had this dropped off from a friend yesterday.It is a Tokheim Co. glass float.I ASSume it's gas station related,but have never seen one,This was from the original J.J. Tokheim of Cedar Rapids Iowa not the Ft.Wayne Tokheim.Any insight is appriciated!

    Found online can't vouch for being correct...

    These floats were used in all types of liquid storage tanks, not just gas/oil.
    As oil is pumped out it is stored in tanks before being transferred by pipeline/trucks to another tank. After being refined it is stored in tanks, all above ground. Until the age of computers, most measuring was done w/ floats."

    There was a string/tape/cable attached to it that went out the top & down the outside of tank to show volume.

    Got it apart without breaking it!Itis in great shape(metal and all) for it's age and condition shown here. Also smelled like H***!!!!!!!!Going to clean it up and post new pics asap!
