These are Coca- Cola bottles left over from WWII out here in the North West Pacific. These bottles are sill intact and are amazingly well kept.
Another interesting thing is that there are 3 hills of this bottles, piles of them, the nice thing about it is that you can find the bottles with the name of different States on it. These again are bottles sent out here by the Coke Companies for all military personnel, base here on Tinian. Tinian is known by its being the location that the two Atomic Bombs that were dropped on Japan was assembled and took of from.

We started out on a hike to find this so called coke hills, we hiked for 3 to 4 hours and came across a couple of coke bottles but they were not the coke hills we were looking for. We took a lunch break and rested awhile, and so I got up and looked around to see what I can find, to my surprise we were near a location were a WW2 fighter Jet crashed, though am not sure if is was a US or Japanese air plane. So I took the old compass and a gas gauge that was from that very airplane. After we had our lunch we continued our search for another 3 to 4 hours more and then finally one of our scouts shouted that he has found it, the three hills of coke bottles, the amazing thing about this was that there were also Pepsi Cola bottles too around the area. I look forward to bring interested people there one day again.

I did take 1 for keep, but its a hike through thick bushes I tell you, but it was worth it. One thing that amazed me the most was that there were 3 hills of these coke bottles. Its a sight to see for yourself. I also will soon be posting up pictures and also write about the Pepsi Cola glass bottles that we found a few hundred yards from the site. I have never seen a Pepsi Cola drink in a bottle, now that for me is awesome.

I'm glad you did the legwork to get back there and find these. War is never pretty but it is so crucial to our history. I hope to be able to see the piles myself someday.

I, too, had the pleasure of finding many such bottles on Tinian. As Navy archaeologist, 1994-2004, I was on Tinian about 40 times, and loved it every time. My wife and I also spent many weekends there visiting local friends. "Boonies stomping" was my obsession, and I spent many hours in the jungles of Tinian. It is indeed a true paradise.
