I have to say that this beaker is not one of my most favourite things. But it interests me because of the shape and the technique involved. It is pressed glass that has been cut and engraved with star pattern. The base has the most extraordinary diamond cutting ! The whole piece sits on 16 points. The rest has been cut away by the engraver. You can feel the sharp edges. They remain mostly intact over the years. There are six panels cut into the bowl and foot. There are six oval pads around the bowl that are cut in a star pattern.
It's age is a bit of a mystery too! It looks nineteenth century in form but there are twentieth century elements too! It almost looks like a Deco version of a traditional Czech beaker. Look at the four lines around the waist of the beaker. Maybe an industrial version of a traditional form?
I put up a nineteenth century Czech beaker here on CW:

There are similarities. The bevelled rim. The cut foot. The decoration around the bowl. But a much more modern feel to it.
H: 13.5 cm or 5.3 inches.
W: 8 cm or 3.1 inches at widest point.
Any help with this beaker would be appreciated!
