This is a pitcher I recently purchased at auction. I know nothing about crystal or the value but would love to learn. There is a mark on the inside, its a G with some kind of symbol running thru it. It has what looks to be gold all over it. Does any one know what the age, maker and possible value may be? I think its pretty no matter the outcome!
the mark you describe is a superimposed 'I' & 'G' for Imperial Glass. Your pitcher is Imperial Glass #505 Bellaire (the company was located in Bellaire, Ohio) and first produced in 1912; the IG mark was used between 1951 & 1972. This pattern had a very long production time and was made in many glass colors. I have a crystal wine set in this pattern that I purchased new in 1969. The pattern is also called Octagon and for some reason unknown to most Replacements.com calls it Daisy & Button.
