   thats a rare banknote, had it been mint or near mint it would be a small fortune, look it up on ebay and see for your self

   I believe it was a book on air flight instruction circa 1940. It wasn't any where near as old as the note.

   That's what's known as a series 1899 "Black Eagle" note. Based on the signatures, you have an example of the final version of the bill before it was discontinued. The Register of the Treasury is Harvey Speelman and the Treasurer of the United States is Frank White. This means your bill was probably printed between 1922 and 1927. The signatures and the positioning of where the date appears actually make a huge difference as to the values of these notes. So keep that in mind when comparing eBay listings.

    A few years ago, one of these in not so great shape (graded VG-8) would have got you about $50 to $75. Really nice ones ran as high as $500.
    
    There is one variety that's pretty rare and runs into the thousands, but most of these, regardless of the location of the series date or what signatures are on it, will fetch about the same price.
    
    The really rare one has the signatures of Vernon and McClung but the 1899 series date MUST be to the right of the seal and not below the serial number. The one with those signatures and the date below the serial number is worth about the same as all the other varieties.
    
    At least this was the case a few years ago. Sometimes rarities are no longer rare after new discoveries.

    A 1899 Black Eagle VF. I've had it for over 20 yrs and I never took it to a
    coin shop for an opinion. I found this site and was impressed by the knowledge
    and friendly atmosphere created by the members.
    Here's my question; The print on the note apparently bled partially from back to front and viceversa, to where one can clearly read the Ser#s and other printing
    on back of bill and same applies to the back of the note.
    Any opinions would be greatly appreciated. I will try to send a pic of the note.
