I'm a retired Home Economic teacher who loves restoring trunks. My first was a small barrel stave trunk that my great, great-grandmother brought to Ohio from Germany in 1858. Since I retired in 2016, I've restored at least 5 trunks, a Victorian dresser, 1940s secretary, a 1919 Singer "Red Eye" model 66 treadle sewing machine, and a Wilcox & Gibbs treadle table.   2. Mine does not have a lockable door inside the desk area. My only suggestion would be to consult a local locksmith. Their rates are usually low.
