This is my first trunk purchase. Got it for $150 and it came with two keys. Love the look of it, but now I think I'm hooked as I want to get several more, like a wall trunk, dome trunk, and a monitor trunk.

Please chime in and let me know if you have any knowledge of this one as I'm very interested in it's history, but unfortunately it's not talking. I have no idea the age, maker or anything else with this. I do know it is a canvas covered trunk, but that's about it.

Thanks, that's what I was thinking too when I bought it. I'll take a few close up pictures later and post them to help with identification if anyone is able to.

I did notice there appears to be some type of repair job on it as the top part of the lock has modern screws holding it on. Not sure if someone replaced that part or it broke off and they used screws to get it back on. If only these things could tell you their story.

Looks like 1910-1920's flat top trunk. The stamped metal pieces came to full bloom with this style of trunk around this time. I have seen a few of these out there, and I imagine there were a few makers producing them at the time -- but with no label you will be hard pressed to identify who made yours. It is a lovely trunk with the hardware giving it a nice effect. Having keys is a huge bonus!! Great to have most of the leather straps intact. Odd that someone would have popped those original rivets to open the lock when they had the keys. Looking forward to seeing your future finds!!

Added a few extra images. Sorry, using camera phone, so not the best. I was hoping it was pre 1900, but sounds like its not.

Thanks for the background, Trunkman, really appreciate it.

Anyone know of a good forum for trunk conversations? I'm interested in learning more from others, so looking for some good reading.
